Fledgling production outfit Buccaneer Media has optioned UK remake rights to a photo-oriented Israeli format.
Capturing the Moment, from Gil Formats, reveals the characters and stories behind family photographs and explores the social history of the time the pictures were taken.
The presenter-led format has already been remade by German broadcaster ZDF, which commissioned a local version for its digital channel ZDFneo, with the first episode focusing on stories related to the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago.
“I was immediately struck by the incredibly moving narrative that Capturing the Moment’can express. We all have epic emotional tales to tell in our everyday lives and at Buccaneer we are committed to bringing these stories to an ever wider audience” said Tony Wood, CEO of Buccaneer Media.
Wood, former creative director at Lime Pictures, has overseen both scripted and unscripted TV brands such as Coronation Street, Desi Rascals and House of Anubis, the live-action kids’ series for Nickelodeon.
He launched Buccaneer as a joint venture with producer and distributor Cineflix Media last April.
