LIFE ON DUTY

Shine France has taken aim at Life On Duty, the new factual prime time format from Tel Aviv-based content and distribution business, Gil Formats, in the second deal announced for the format since its launch.

Part of the Endemol Shine Group, the front-running producer and distributor has bought the French rights to the Israeli export during the format’s first MIPCOM showing this week. It follows a deal with Warner Bros International Television Production which will see the format optioned in Australia, Denmark and The Netherlands.

Life On Duty follows real life characters from three emergency services – police, fire, and hospital trauma – contrasting the brutal and heroic days and nights on the job with their often neglected private lives.

Framed by classic dramatic storytelling techniques, the format fits Shine France’s reputation for shows with franchises including MasterChef, The Voice, One Born Every Minute and 24 Hours in A&E.

Priscilla Siney Head of Sales and Acquisitions of Shine France said of the option agreement: “Life On Duty will build on Shine France’s repertoire of arresting, innovative and insightful television. The format offers the unique personal context of those people at the forefront of a nation’s emergency services and we expect strong interest in developing the programme for French audiences.”

Life On Duty has previously been commissioned by Channel 10 Israel to air in Winter 2016 and is available from Gil Formats at MIPCOM 2015.
