Gil Formats, and CJ E&M, South Korea based, and Asia’s leading content and Media Company, has recently struck a co-development deal. ‘Kids in Power’, is the first project to come out of this new collaboration, and the format will be launched at MIPCOM 2017.
‘Kids in Power’ is a daring social experiment which aims to transform the lives of families with badly behaved kids. Over the period of 1 week, this Parenting Format sees families reverse roles – the parents delegate absolute authority to children on all matters of the household: they set the rules of the household, manage the money, make calls on nutrition, food and screen time, chores and curfews, and decide everything that happens in the house during the week. In short – The Kids are in power, and the parents have to do exactly what they say.
The experiment is observed by the two experts that originated it – a Family Behaviour Expert and a Children psychologist. Both will give their insights on the different situations created by the experiment. With insights given by the experts who follow the action throughout the week, the experiment shows what their kids truly desire and how they finally learn the weight of their parents’ responsibilities. And parents learn that their kids’ bad behavior is a cry for help; this social experiment makes the parents realize that they need to change going forward – giving the format big, dramatic and emotional results.
The Korean version of the format aired on CJ E&M’s flagship channel tvN and rated #1 among Female 30s, 40s, and 50s out of tvN’s weekday prime entertainment programs.
